GREENVILLE, Pa. (July 27) -- The Level 5 Open-Flighted Girls 18U Tomcat Tennis Tournament sponsored in partnership with First National Bank was held this past weekend at Tomcat Tennis Courts on the campus of Thiel College. The event brought together a competitive field of junior tennis players from across the region and beyond, delivering high-quality play and exciting matchups.
In Flight 1, top seed Kendall Dougherty (Bradford Woods, Pa.) defeated Rya Johnson (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 in a tight, third set tiebreak match for the Championship. Alexis Pattenaude (Marietta, Ga.) took home the third place medal.
In Flight 2, Grace Liu (Fairview, Pa.) defeated Raina Patel (Cleveland, Ohio) 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 for the title. Zoey Liu (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took the third place medal.
All registered players received a 'welcome bag' compliments of GAMMA Sports and Thiel College.
Tournament director Anthony Kobak praised the success of the tournament and the scintillating play it delivered.
"This tournament continues to attract a strong group of players from across the region, and this year's competition didn't disappoint," Kobak said. "We're grateful to everyone who traveled to Greenville to compete and to First National Bank for their continued support. It was a great weekend of tennis, and we're excited to welcome everyone back for our next event."
Preparations are in place for the next installment of the tournament which will take place next summer.
