GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Thiel College women's basketball team fell to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Grove City 76-49 on senior day from Maenpa Court in Beeghly Gymnasium.
Thiel ends their season at 6-19 (1-15) as Grove City finishes 17-8 (11-5) overall.
Prior to today's final contest, Thiel honored seniors
Natalie Hering (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire) and
Daisy Jenness (Pendleton, Ore./Pendleton).
Caitlin Stephens (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) started the offense for the Blue and Gold, leading the Wolverines by eight points half way through the first period. Grove City chipped away to flip the script and lead 22-16 after the first.
Thiel and Grove City battled throughout the second quarter, but Grove was able to slip away in the third, only allowing Thiel five points. The Tomcat defense held the Wolverines to shooting 25% (6-for-24) in the second to keep it close.
Stephens notched her third career double-double with a career best 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Freshman
Emily Betsinger (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) put up 11 points for the Tomcat offense and grabbed a total of seven rebounds.
Issy Green (Slippery Rock, Pa./Portersville Christian) had a game best five assists and eight boards, while
Kayley Risser (Reynoldsville, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) and
Kelsey Seddon (Cochranton, Pa./Lakeview) each grabbed five rebounds, Risser with eight points and Seddon with five.
