Joey King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) finished seventh at the NCAA Division III Region 4 Championships at Grant Center on the campus of Averett University.
King was pinned (2:13) by Ferrum's Sam Slate in his first bout of day two. He rebounded with a pin (6:01) of Greensboro's Isaiah Manning to claim seventh place in the Championships.
King was pinned (6:41) in his first bout yesterday by Roanoke's Hunter Moore for his first on-the-mat loss of the season at 197 pounds. He logged a pair of pins in the consolation bracket over Washington and Jefferson's Connor Garren (2:40) and Averett's Jacob Jimenez (1:54) in yesterday's action.
King concludes his season 17-4 with 11 pins, five technical falls, one major decision and two decisions. He was the PAC champion at 197 as he dominated his way to the title with three first-period pins.
