Seth Phillips (Hubbard, Ohio/Western Reserve) placed third in a 20-wrestler field at Baldwin Wallace's 38th John Summa Invitational Saturday afternoon at Lou Higgins Center. As a team, the Tomcats finished 13th of 13 in a crowded, competitive pool of teams.
Phillips pinned (2:30) Keaton Renfrew (Alfred State) in his opening bout before posting an 11-3 major decision over Cooper McKean (Otterbein). Phillips was pinned (3:18) in the semifinals by Jackson Burns (St. John Fisher). In the consolation bracket, he pinned (1:30) Caleb Ridgeley (Baldwin Wallace) and bested Jadon Brownlee (Ohio Northern) on a 1-0 decision in the third-place bout.
Phillips improves to 10-6 on the season with five pins after going 4-1 on the day. The third-place finish was Phillips' best of the season as he took fourth at the D. Kenneth Ober Invitational on Jan. 25.

Landon Mead (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield), the reigning PAC Wrestler of the Week, logged a 17-1 technical fall (6:15) over Skyler Cornell (Ohio Wesleyan) in rout to a 1-2 day.
Wrestling will hit the mat again next Saturday in the PAC Championships at Waynesburg's Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
