HIRAM, Ohio (Dec. 5) -- The Thiel College Wrestling team opened its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) slate of duals with a resounding 37-10 win at Hiram College Friday evening from Price Gymnasium.
The Tomcats (1-0) logged four wins by pin, three of which came in the first period, all in 1:24 or less.
Mequan Maxwell (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) notched an easy pin in 21 seconds over JT Hagood at 141 pounds. Maxwell improves to 5-1 on the year with three wins by fall.
Jonathan Bissell (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) followed Maxwell with a pin in 1:24 over Will Brodbeck at 149. Bissell, who was named PAC Newcomer of the Week on Nov. 10, improves to 10-3 with eight pins.
Jacob Potts (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) collected a 12-5 decision at 165 over King-Amari Wright to move to 4-4.
Landon Mead (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield) pinned Kaden Duke in 4:42 at 174 for his second pin of the season.
Zachery Ward (Girard, Ohio/Girard) recorded an 11-3 major decision at 184 over Isaac Ray to climb to 6-4.
Brian White (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville), in his first collegiate action, collected a pin (1:08) at heavyweight over Michael Hopson.
Leyton Zacherl (Stoneboro, Pa./Lakeview) won by forfeit at 133 pounds.
The Terriers (0-1) logged wins at 125, 157 and 197.
The Tomcats will take an extended break over the winter holiday season and will return to the mats Jan. 15 at Saint Vincent College for a 7 p.m. PAC dual.
