Men's Basketball downed at Saint Vincent in season opener

LATROBE, Pa. (Nov. 10) -- The Thiel College Men's Basketball team fell 85-59 at Saint Vincent College Monday evening in the 2025-26 season opener from the Robert S. Carey Center in a non-conference clash.

While both squads are Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) members, Monday's clash between the Tomcats (0-1) and Bearcats (2-0) will not count as a league game. The two sides will meet for a PAC showdown on Feb. 7 in Greenville.

Thiel trailed 24-9 in the first half before a 7-0 run capped by a Khamari Accursio-Harris (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter) 3-ball pulled the Blue and Gold within 8 at 24-16 with 8:51 left in the half. Thiel got as close as 6 down at 29-23 on a Kenny Ermat (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./Boyd Anderson) jumper before the home side closed the half with a 19-6 spurt to carry a 48-29 lead into the break.

Accursio-Harris logged 11 points, five boards and two steals while Ermat pitched in 5 points and a team-most eight rebounds off the bench.

The Bearcats held a 37-30 edge in the second half en route to the lopsided victory.

John DiCecco (Indianapolis, Ind./Lebanon) paced the visitors with a Thiel-career-most 16 points on 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-7 from deep. Anthony Henderson II (Miramar, Fla./Somerset Academy) logged 10 points on 4-of-9 and pulled down five boards while swiping a pair of steals.

Mike Brown (Clinton, Md./Gwynn Park) pitched in 9 points to go with two steals and assists each. Ryan Grant (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibnons) had a game-high-tying and career-most three assists in reserve.

The Tomcats are back in action Wednesday when they host Penn State Du Bois in the home opener at 7 p.m.
