GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 10) -- The Thiel College wrestling team dropped its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener to Washington and Jefferson College 30-14 Friday night on Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats drop to 0-1 on the year and 0-1 in conference play while the Presidents rise to 1-6 overall and 1-0 in PAC play.
Joey King (Cooperstown, Pa./Maplewood) moved to 8-1 on the year with a 16-0 technical fall (3:29) over Logan Smith at 197 pounds. King has won four bouts via tech. fall on the year while also collecting a pair of pins and one major decision and decision each.
Dreyvin Livingston (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) collected his first win of the season and the Blue and Gold's first of the night at 133 pounds. Livingston pinned Josh Smith (2:17) and gave Thiel an early 6-3 advantage.
Dominic Hartman (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) logged a 7-2 decision over Jiovanni DeChiccis at 165 pounds to move to 2-2 on the season. Both of Hartman's victories have come via decision this year.
Jacob Potts (Oakdale, Pa./South Fayette) had a strong showing at 149 pounds but dropped a tough 12-8 decision to Peyton Carter.
Wrestling returns to action Thursday for a road non-conference tilt at Pitt Bradford.
