GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team concluded its 2023-24 season Thursday with an 8-1 win over the La Roche Redhawks.
Thiel won all three doubles matches.
Toby Atwood (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) and
Payton Blankenbeckley (Portsmouth, Ohio/Minford) defeated Teresa Munoz Torrado and Shannon Jenkins at first doubles, 8-0. At second doubles,
Emily Peters (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna) and
Emmalea Zummo (Jeannette, Pa./Jeannette) topped Catherine Moran and Makayla Abram, 8-2.
Morgan Gerber (Millersburg, Ohio/Strasburg-Franklin) and
Madi Yurich (Harmony, Pa/Seneca Valley) won 8-1 over Madison Dalverny and Kathryn Strang at third doubles.
Thiel won five singles matches. Blankenbeckley defeated Moran 6-1, 6-0 at second singles while Peters bested Abram 6-2, 6-4 at third singles.
Zummo won 6-0, 6-0 over Dalverny at fourth singles while Gerber defeated Jenkins 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles. Yurich was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at sixth singles over Strang.
