GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced the 2023 PAC Women's Tennis Players to Watch and the 2023 PAC Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday.
For the Tomcats, senior
Payton Blankenbeckley (Portsmouth, Ohio/Minford) and sophomore
Toby Atwood (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) were named 2023 Women's Tennis Players to Watch.
Blankenbeckley earned All-PAC Honorable Mention following the 2021-22 season. She was also tabbed a player to watch last season.
Blankenbeckley won three matches at third singles last year, including a 6-1, 6-0 win over Waynesburg. She also teamed up with
Natalie Zgurich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) to win six doubles matches at first doubles, including an 8-0 win over Ursuline.
Atwood won four matches at fourth singles last season, including a 6-0,6-0 win over Waynesburg. She also won four matches at second doubles, teaming up with
Jordan Zee (Conneaut, Ohio/Edgewood),
Emily Peters (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna) and
Reagan Hayne (Greenville, Pa./Greenville).
The PAC also released the 2023 PAC Women's Tennis Coaches Poll on Thursday. The Tomcats placed eighth in the poll, which was voted on the PAC's nine head coaches, with 13 points.
The Tomcats will begin their season at home on September 2 against Mount Aloysius. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
