GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's lacrosse team won a non-conference game Saturday at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome over the Hiram Terriers, 16-9.
Trailing 4-2, the Tomcats went on to score seven straight goals over the last 12 minutes of the second quarter to hold a 9-4 lead at halftime.
Chase Lawler (Etters, Pa./Red Land) scored four of his game-high five goals during the stretch, one of which was during a man-up opportunity.
Pat Hartnett (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) scored three goals during the 7-0 run.
Lawler finished the game with nine points (5G, 4A), tying him for the sixth most in a single game in program history. He also picked up 11 ground balls. Hartnett (4G, 1A) and
Bennett Medyn (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra Macedon) (2G, 3A) both tallied five points while
Zach Melin (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) scored three goals.
Ambrose Colliluori paced Hiram with three goals.
Jason Masciantonio (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made six saves for the Tomcats to earn his second win of the season. Aidan Griffin made eight saves for the Terriers.
The Tomcats (2-3) will host the Grove City Wolverines (0-3) Tuesday in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener for both teams. Faceoff is set for noon.
