GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost a non-conference game to the Hiram Terriers, 74-40, Monday night at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats got out to an early 9-6 lead, but the Terriers went on a 13-3 run to open up a 19-12 lead.
Hiram outscored the Tomcats 18-5 in the second quarter to hold a 37-21 halftime lead.
The Terriers outscored the Tomcats 37-19 in the second half to close out the game.
Thiel was led by freshman guard
Josie Lewis (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) who recorded a career-high 16 points. Lewis also grabbed four rebounds and dished out an assist. She also shot 50 percent (3-6) from three-point range.
Jensen Stehlik (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) notched 10 points to go along with one rebound, while
Taylor Susany (Struthers, Ohio/Struthers) recorded seven points and grabbed two rebounds. Junior guard
Lexy Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) dished out a game-high four assists.
Hiram was led by Payton Black who recorded a game-high 21 points to go along with nine boards. Brooke Hickman recorded 17 points and corralled 13 rebounds, while Ava Mory recorded eight points and grabbed four boards.
The Tomcats return to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Wednesday when they travel to Chatham. The conference game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
