GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost a non-conference game Saturday on the road to the Pitt Greensburg Bobcats, 83-66.
Sarah Penrod hit a three-pointer with less than a minute remaining in the second quarter to give Pitt Greensburg a 12-point lead at halftime (46-34). The Tomcats outscored the Bobcats 22-10 in the third quarter to force a tie (56-56), but Pitt Greensburg opened the fourth quarter on a 13-0 run en route to the non-conference win.
Josie Lewis (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) led Thiel with a career-high 21 points. She made 7-of-13 shots from the floor while contributing three assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Lexy Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) scored 14 points and corralled six rebounds.
Jensen Stehlik (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Nordonia) scored 13 points while
Kelsey Seddon (Cochranton, Pa./Lakeview) led the Tomcats with a career-best eight rebounds.
Melina Maietta and Tiana Moracco recorded double-doubles for the Bobcats. Maietta scored a game-high 23 points to go along with 14 rebounds while Moracco scored 18 points and grabbed a game-best 14 rebounds. Penrod scored 17 points and tallied nine rebounds.
Thiel will host the Bethany Bison Wednesday at Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
