MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on the road Saturday to the Allegheny Gators, 73-54.
Thiel trailed by just a point at halftime (25-24), but Allegheny dominated in the third quarter (29-7) en route to the conference win.
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) led the Tomcats with 22 points and eight rebounds. She made 7-of-17 shots from the floor and was a perfect 7-of-7 at the charity stripe.
Freshman guard
Viviana Paucarima (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Glades) scored seven points.
Lexy Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) and
Giana Arnese (Carbondale, Pa./Carbondale) scored six points apiece while
Destiny Merriwether (Youngstown, Ohio/East) corralled seven rebounds.
Emily Lauer scored a game-high 32 points for the Gators to go along with nine rebounds. Alexis Caldwell scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Tomcats will host the Pitt Bradford Panthers on Tuesday. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
