DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost the first game of the Mauro Panaggio Tournament hosted by SUNY Brockport, 73-32, to the Nazareth Golden Flyers on Monday.
The Golden Flyers held a 17-10 advantage after the first quarter and would not surrender the lead the rest of the game.
The Tomcats were led by freshman guard
Shayla Foster (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) who scored a career-high 12 points to go along with one rebound. Senior forward
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) recorded eight points to go along with four rebounds. Senior
Destiny Merriwether (Youngstown, Ohio/East) recorded a team-high five rebounds to go along with four points.
For Nazareth, Brielle Reidinger recorded 14 points and eight rebounds. Jadyn Abrams also recorded 14 points and hauled in seven rebounds.
The Tomcats will conclude play in the Mauro Panaggio Tournament Tuesday when they play the Elmhurst Blue Jays. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
