HIRAM, Ohio –
Taylor Susany (Struthers, Ohio/Struthers) and
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) combined for 47 points Monday, but it wasn't enough for the Thiel College women's basketball team in a 77-64 non-conference loss on the road to the Hiram Terriers.
The Tomcats trailed 37-21 at halftime but outscored the Terriers 26-20 in the third quarter to get back in the game.
Susany, who scored a career-high 26 points, drained a pair of three-pointers on back-to-back possessions early in the fourth quarter to cut the lead down to four points (57-53), but the Tomcats would get no closer down the stretch.
Susany made seven shots from beyond the three-point line, tying her for the third most in game in program history. Johnson scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Johnson also had four assists and four steals.
Lexy Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) scored seven points while
Shayla Foster (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) scored four points to go along with four assists.
Jocelyn Janda led Hiram with 24 points. Brooke Hickman corralled 14 rebounds and scored 10 points.
The Tomcats will host the Bethany Bison Wednesday. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game will begin at 6 p.m.
