WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team picked up bonus points in each of its five wins Tuesday en route to a 27-21 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win on the road over the Washington & Jefferson Presidents.
Evan Whiteside (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) got the Tomcats started with a 20-3 technical fall over Tyler Ratledge at 125.
Hunter E. Thompson (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) followed with a 12-4 major decision over Hunter Swedish at 133. The Tomcats took a 15-0 team lead after
Hunter Martz (Hawthorn, Pa./Redbank Valley) pinned Jaizik Sanabria in 2:09 at 141.
Alexander Anderson (Warren, Pa./Warren) and
Peyton Hearn (Conneaut, Pa./Conneaut Area) provided Thiel's final 12 points via pins. Anderson pinned Joshua Searle in 3:42 at 157 while Hearn won in 2:52 over Seth Finnigan at 165.
Thiel improved to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in PAC play with the win.
The Tomcats will host the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets (2-9, 0-1 PAC) on Friday. The PAC match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
