BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team was defeated, 82-92, against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game on Saturday.
The game was tied at 12 with 14:18 left in the first half. The Golden Tornadoes broke the tie to take the lead and held the lead for the remainder of the game. The Tomcats drew close at times and trailed just 24-28 with 7:08 left in the first half, but the Golden Tornadoes scored eight straight points to grab their first double-digit lead. The Tomcats trailed by at least seven for the rest of the contest as the Golden Tornadoes went on to win 92-82.
Marlon Ellerbee (Temple Hills, Md./Oxon Hill) led the Tomcats with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting and four assists.
Rayshod Hooper (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) scored a career-high 12 points and grabbed a team-leading seven boards and two steals.
Ethan Barnes (Boynton Beach, Fla./Suncoast) scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Devin Christian (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) shot a perfect 4-for-4, with two three-pointers to tally 10 points.
For the Golden Tornadoes, Ryan Rachic scored 25 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Lyle Tipton scored 24 points. 88 of the Golden Tornadoes points were scored by the starting five.
The Tomcats' next game will be a PAC game, 6 p.m. Monday at Franciscan.
