GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team improved to 5-0 Wednesday after defeating the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Panthers at Beeghly Gymnasium, 33-15.
Thiel led 24-0 after four bouts with 12 points coming on pins by
Evan Whiteside (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) and
Jake Alberts (Ellwood City, Pa./Lincoln).
Whiteside got the Tomcats started when he turned Jestin Poruban in 1:23 in the 125-pound match. At 141, Alberts pinned Farhid Negahbn in 3:42.
Bryce McCloskey (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) picked up an 11-4 decision over Nathan Powley at 184.
Dylan Proper (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) capped off the night by pinning Shaquan Bagot in 23 seconds in the heavyweight bout.
The Tomcats (5-0) will face the Washington & Jefferson Presidents on the road on Tuesday. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
