CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Thiel College wrestling team defeated the Case Western Reserve Spartans, 39-12, in a non-conference dual Wednesday evening.
The Tomcats led off with 15-straight points, with forfeits at 125 and 133. Thiel also earned a forfeit at 174.
Hunter Martz (Hawthorn, Pa./Redbank Valley) defeated Brandon Callow by decision at 141, 15-12, to earn three points for the Tomcats.
Bryce McCloskey (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) won at 184 by fall to earn the Tomcats six points. The Tomcats also got five points from
Alexander Anderson (Warren, Pa./Warren) with a technical fall (17-1) victory at 157.
Peyton Hearn (Conneaut, Pa./Conneaut Area) won by major decision (8-0) at 165 to get four points for the Tomcats.
Jared Curcio (Avonmore, Pa./Kiski Area) earned the Tomcats three points with an 8-5 decision over Alex Torres at 197.
For the Spartans, Mitchell Arch and Grant Robinson earned six points apiece at 149 and 285, respectively. Arch and Robinson each won by fall, defeating
Austin Parker (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) and
Seth Phillips (Hubbard, Ohio/Western Reserve), respectively.
