GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team defeated the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets, 2-1, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets stung first with a goal at the 8:05 mark. The Tomcats would not roll over easily and scored just past the 35-minute mark to tie the game into halftime. Less than five minutes into the second half, the Tomcats took the 2-1 lead and the score held through the remainder of the game.
The Tomcats were led by
Bailey Fritz (Mineral Ridge, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) with a goal and an assist.
Kate Sollers (Suffield, Ohio/Field) scored the go-ahead goal for the Tomcats.
Reilly Lutz (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) attempted three shots, two on goal. Goalkeeper
Samantha Hoffman (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) saved six shots and allowed just one goal in the win.
For the Yellow Jackets, Meg Briski scored the lone goal on four shots, three on goal. Faith Falick and Blair Autumn tended goal for the Yellow Jackets in the first and second half, respectively. Both allowed a goal and combined for four saves.
The Tomcats will travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Chatham Cougars on Sunday at 1 p.m.
