GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team opened the 2020-21 season Saturday with a 33-15 win over the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks at Beeghly Gymnasium.
 
After falling behind 9-6, the Tomcats went on to win five of the final six matches to secure the win. Thiel collected three pins over the stretch, as well as a technical fall and a major decision. Peyton Hearn (Conneaut, Pa./Conneaut Area), Bryce McCloskey (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) and Braydon Herbster (Linesville, Pa./Reynolds) recorded the pins.
 
Three Tomcats went 2-0 on the day, including Evan Whiteside (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway), Logan Long (North Bend, Pa./Central Mountain) and Hearn.
 
Whiteside opened the day with a pin in 5:25 over Marcus Evans before earning a major decision (11-1) over Taige Jones. Long won by technical fall over Otto Davidson (15-0, 2:44) and decision (9-2) over Andrew Bungar. Hearn pinned Bungar (2:45) and won by major decision (14-2) over Davidson.
