NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Thiel College women's basketball team opened the 2021-22 season Friday with a 96-62 non-conference loss on the road to Muskingum Fighting Muskies.
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) paced the Tomcats with a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds. Johnson, who made 8-of-16 shots from the floor and 8-of-12 tries from the foul line, also recorded two steals, a block and an assist.
Rachel Breckenridge (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) and
Lexy Wagner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) scored nine points apiece.
Taylor Susany (Struthers, Ohio/Struthers) scored eight points while
Emily Harriman (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) scored seven points.
Caitlyn DeMassimo came off the bench to lead Muskingum with 18 points. Tanner Wirth scored 16 points while Leia Smith scored 11 points and tallied a game-best eight rebounds.
The Tomcats will play the Hiram Terriers in their home opener on Monday. The non-conference game will begin at 7 p.m.
