GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team earned a 6-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on Wednesday.
Thiel swept all three doubles matches.
Natalie Zgurich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and
Payton Blankenbeckley (Portsmouth, Ohio/Minford) defeated Kyleigh Schmidt and Hayley Sweeney 8-3 at first doubles.
Sarah Haritos (Wilmington, Del./Concord) and
Jordan Zee (Conneaut, Ohio/Edgewood) topped Madison Ramsey and Marina Hastings 8-4 at No. 2 doubles while
Madeline Depalma (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna) and
Reagan Hayne (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) bested Emily Schafer and Ashley Smith 8-2 at third doubles.
Zgurich beat Schmidt 6-1, 6-0 at first singles while Blankenbeckley topped Sweeney 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3. Depalma defeated Smith 6-2, 6-0 at fifth singles. Hayne held the lead over Schafer at sixth singles, but the match went unfinished due to darkness.
The Tomcats will face the Grove City Wolverines on the road Friday. The PAC match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
