Thiel beats Penn State Behrend, 44-4

ERIE, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team won a non-conference match on the road Friday over the Penn State Behrend Lions, 44-4.
 
Thiel collected a pair of pins in the win. After building up a quick 6-0 lead, Jake Alberts (Ellwood City/Lincoln ) pinned Wilson Ruiz at 133 pounds in 47 seconds. At 197 pounds, Landon Westover (Canton, Ohio/Field) went up 8-0 before pinning Brian Himes in 2:22.
 
The Tomcats also picked up bonus points on a pair of major decision wins. Cameron Prebble (Sharpsville, Pa./Sharpsville) won 10-2 over Tyler Speraw at 174 pounds while Dylan Proper (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood) picked up a 14-4 win over Josh McCall at 184 pounds.
 
The win was Thiel's second straight after earning a 24-23 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Washington & Jefferson Thursday.
 
The Tomcats will host the Mel Berry Duals at Beeghly Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 25. Thiel's first match, against Alfred State College, will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thiel will also face Mercyhurst North East at 4 p.m.
