BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team lost its final Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of the season Saturday on the road to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes, 80-58.
Freshman guard
Rachel Breckenridge (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) led the Tomcats with 19 points off the bench. She made 6-of-13 shots from beyond the 3-point line to tally her season-high in scoring. Senior guard
Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) scored 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists. Freshman forward
Destiny Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Western) led Thiel with 12 rebounds while contributing six points and five steals.
Callie Ford led Geneva with a game-best 25 points. Lauren Tipton recorded a double-double with 22 points and recorded 20 rebounds. Shannon Wolfe also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Tomcats earned the eighth seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament. They will face the fifth-seeded Bethany Bison on the road in the first round on Monday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Thiel and Bethany split the season series. Thiel lost at Bethany 63-53 on Dec. 8, but the Tomcats earned a 77-69 win at home over the Bison on Feb. 4.
