GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team was edged 5-4 by the Geneva Golden Tornadoes in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match Saturday.
Thiel opened the with a pair of doubles wins. At No. 1,
Natalie Zgurich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and
Angela Campbell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) defeated Felicity Orndoff and Victoria Hoal, 8-4.
Taylor Ranegar (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avella) and
Reagan Hayne (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) also won 8-4 at third doubles over Bekah Locke and Laura Lin Comollo.
The Golden Tornadoes captured the win by taking four of six singles matches. Zgurich defeated Hoal 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 in the No. 2 match.
Allyson Stanley (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) also picked up a win at No. 4 over Emily Grove 6-4, 6-0.
Thiel is 5-5 overall and 2-3 in PAC play on the season.
The Tomcats will face the Washington & Jefferson Presidents on the road on Friday. The PAC match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
