GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team won a non-conference match over the Penn State Behrend Lions Friday, 6-3.
The Tomcats won four singles match and two doubles matches on the day.
In singles play, freshman
Natalie Zgurich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) defeated Jada Donatien 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 match.
Allyson Stanley (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) improved to 8-1 on the season at fourth singles with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Rachel Weber.
Taylor Ranegar (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avella) downed Alyson Edwards 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles while
Reagan Hayne (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) defeated Emily Hood 6-1, 6-0 at sixth singles.
Stanley and
Shyann Foreman (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles over Hadley Howell and Emma Martin while Ranegar and Hayne topped Weber and Kaitlyn Klein 8-5 at third doubles. Stanley and Foreman are 5-4 on the season at No. 2 doubles.
The Tomcats, winners of two straight matches, improved to 5-4 overall on the season with Friday's win.
Thiel will host Geneva on Saturday. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match will begin at 11 a.m.
