BETHANY, W.Va. – The Thiel College women's tennis team earned a 6-3 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win on the road Thursday over the Bethany Bison at the Mary Ewing Tennis Center.
Thiel won four singles matches.
Natalie Zgurich (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), who was named the conference's Rookie of the Week Monday, defeated Mary VanDyke 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 match.
Allyson Stanley (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) improved to 7-1 on the season at fourth singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Megan McDonald.
Thiel also won at fifth and sixth singles.
Taylor Ranegar (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avella) defeated Trinity Dixon 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 while
Reagan Hayne (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) won 6-0, 6-0 over Sarah Sberna in the No. 6 match.
Zgurich and
Angela Campbell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) won 8-2 over Wesley Crockett and VanDyke at first doubles. Ranegar and Hayne blanked Dixon and Sberna 8-0 in the third doubles match.
The Tomcats improved to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in PAC play with Thursday's win.
Thiel will host Penn State Behrend on Friday. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
