BETHANY, W. Va. – The Thiel College women's soccer team picked up a 2-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over the Bethany Bison on Saturday.
Grace Chambers scored the first goal of the game giving Bethany the 1-0 lead in the 27
th minute. The Bison would take the one goal advantage into the halftime break.
In the 58
th minute after a run into the attacking zone made by
Shylee Turner (Warren, Ohio/Howland),
Allison Hamilton (Norton, Ohio/Norton) would blast a shot past the Bethany goalkeeper tying the game at one.
With less than two minutes left in regulation,
Arlene Barreto (Covina, Calif./Bishop Amat Memorial ) would take a shot to try to win the game. When her shot did not go in,
Nicole Pereksta (Parma Heights, Ohio/Valley Forge) found the rebound and put the ball in the back of the
net sealing the road win for Thiel.
Defensively, Thiel's back line only allowed nine shots all game.
Bethany Bonnar (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) tallied four saves during her time in net to ensure the victory.
The Tomcats are back in action Wednesday, Oct. 23
rd when they host the Washington and Jefferson Presidents. The PAC contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
