GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team lost a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match Friday to the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets at Beeghly Gymnasium, 23-17.
Waynesburg jumped out to an early 11-0 lead with decision wins at 125-pounds and 141-pounds, as well as a technical fall at 133-pounds.
Thiel came back with three straight decision wins at 149, 157 and 165 to cut Waynesburg's lead to 11-9. Freshman
Lukas McClain (Ridgeway, Pa./Ridgeway Area) defeated Jaeden Gordon 11-6 at 149 to get the Tomcats on the scoreboard before senior
Jason Miller (Clarksville, Pa./Jefferson Morgan) decisioned Zach Mackall 15-11 at 157. Tomcat sophomore
Austin Bonacci (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) went on to defeat Dan Verhovsek 3-2 at 165.
Waynesburg's Anthony Welsh won by pin at 174 before Thiel senior
Dominic Farabaugh (Loretto, Pa./Penn Cambria) scored an 8-2 decision over Adam Rigney at 184.

Gage Gladysz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) tied up the contest 17-17 when he won by technical fall (15-0, 7:00) at 197 over Nick Kusich. In the heavyweight bout, Jake Evans, ranked No. 1 according to D3wrestle.com, sealed the win for the Yellow Jackets with a pin in 2:30.
Six Tomcats were honored during Senior Night prior to Friday's match, including:

Vincent Mion (Mount Oliver, Pa./Carrick),

The Tomcats will be back in action Sunday when they compete in the Jamestown (N.Y.) Community College Open.
