BRADFORD, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team split two nonconference matches on Saturday at Pitt-Bradford.
 
Thiel started the day with a 35-14 loss to SUNY-Brockport. The Tomcats dropped the first four matches against the Golden Eagles before Jason Miller (Clarksville, Pa./Jefferson Morgan) collected a technical fall (18-2) over Jackson Bell at 157 pounds. Thiel tried to climb back into the match with an 8-6 decision by Dominic Farabaugh (Loretto, Pa./Penn Cambria) at 184 pounds and a pin by Caleb Garvey (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) at 197 pounds but it proved to be too late as Brockport took the match 35-14.
 
In Thiel's second match the Tomcats got off to another slow start before another decision (18-11) by Miller at 157 pounds put them on on the board. After Miller's victory the Tomcats started to roll as they rattled off four straight victories to seal the match.
 
Austin Bonacci (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) collected a major decision (10-1) at 165 pounds before three straight pins from Dylan Proper (Titusville, Pa./Maplewood High School) at 174 pounds, Farabaugh at 184 pounds, and Gage Gladysz (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) at 197 pounds. Thiel took the match over Pitt-Bradford 31-15. 
 
With the split, Thiel goes to 5-2 on year and will open their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule with a visit to Washington and Jefferson College on Wednesday, that match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
