GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team tied 0-0 in double overtime to nonconference opponent Marietta College on Tuesday night at Alumni Stadium.
A quiet offensive first half for both the Tomcats and Pioneers led the teams heading into the half knotted at 0-0.
Marietta's offense started to spark in the second half as the Pioneers fired 18 shots in the half but Tomcat Goalkeeper
Shay Tresler (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) kept a clean sheet throughout making a game high 13 saves in 110 minutes of action. Tresler earned her third shutout of the year.
Marissa Ramirez (Amherst, Ohio/Amherst Steele) racked up four shots on goal in the double overtime tie. Despite The Tomcats having opportunities in overtime nothing got past Pioneer Goalkeeper Katie Conkle.
With the draw, Thiel now sits at 1-7-2 overall.
The Tomcats will open Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Saturday as they travel to Washington, Pa. to take on Washington and Jefferson College, kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
