GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team earned a 73-68 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets Saturday at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Tomcats trailed at halftime (39-31) but opened the second half with a 14-5 run to take a 45-44 lead with a little more than 14 minutes remaining in regulation. Thiel went on to lead by as many as six points down the stretch.
Tyreik Burton (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) led the Tomcats with 22 points while also recording three assists and three steals.
Mert Ozkaynak (Izmir, Turkey/T.C. Williams) scored 14 points while
Tyrese Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) scored 12 points and led the Tomcats with seven rebounds.
Nyric Gosley (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) also contributed 11 points.
Jon Knab and Frank Bozicevic each scored 12 points for the Yellow Jackets. Marcus Wallace scored 10 points while Nate Gearhart scored nine points and led his team with seven rebounds.
The Tomcats will face the Geneva Golden Tornadoes on the road Wednesday. The PAC game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
