GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team earned an 8-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory Wednesday over the visiting Waynesburg Yellow Jackets.
The Tomcats swept all three doubles matches and won five of six singles competitions.
Emily Barton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) and
Allyson Stanley (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) beat Noelle Hughes and Brooklyn Shoup 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while
Angela Campbell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) and
Shyann Foreman (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) also scored an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles against Sierra Jones and Natalie Watson. At No. 3 doubles, Emilie Maxheimer and
Marquett Samuels (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) earned an 8-1 win over Olivia Ference and Sierra Stevens.
Barton defeated Jones 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Foreman picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Shoup at No. 3 singles. Stanley scored a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Stevens at No. 4 singles while Maxheimer defeated Watson 6-0, 6-0. Samuels also earned a win at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Ference.
The Tomcats (1-1, 1-1 PAC) will face the Thomas More Saints on the road Friday. The PAC match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
