SELINSGROVE, Pa. – After a 66-42 victory over New Jersey City University on Saturday night the Tomcats faced tournament host Susquehanna University in the finals of the Susquehanna Trailways Tipoff Tournament. The Tomcats fell behind early and were never able to pull back into contention falling 74-55 to the River Hawks.
 
Susquehanna jumped out to a 21-12 first quarter advantage before finding themselves up 39-23 at the half way mark.
 
The Tomcats came out strong in the second half outscoring the River Hawks 19-14 in the third quarter. Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) added nine points in the third to pull the Tomcats within 11.
 
In the fourth, Susquehanna went on an 8-0 run making it 60-42 with 7:14 remaining in the game. The River Hawks closed out the game outscoring the Tomcats 14-13 in the final seven minutes taking the game by a final score of 74-55.
 
Jess Vormelker (Orwell, Ohio/Grand Valley) led all scores with a season-high 21 points. Duchon collected 18 points on the night. Both Vormelker and Duchon were named to the all-tournament team.
 
The Tomcats return to action on Tuesday at Beeghly Gymnasium when they face Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Westminster College, tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
