GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team was defeated 9-0 Tuesday by the Fredonia Blue Devils.
For the Tomcats,
Sara Matczak (Erie, Pa./Fairview) and
Lauren Wolfe (Anita, Pa./Punxsutawney) played a close match at No. 1 doubles against Chloe Cohen and Halee Dickinson but fell, 8-5.
Mercedez Quarles (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Science and Medicine) and
Kaela Reinhart (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) also came close at No. 3 doubles but suffered an 8-5 loss to Stephanie Ashodian and Mallory Mecca.
Matczak lost to Cohen 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 at No. 1 singles while
Angela Campbell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) lost to Adriana Speach 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
The Tomcats will travel to New Wilmington, Pa., Saturday to face the Westminster Titans. The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
