GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team suffered a 4-2 non-conference loss Saturday to the La Roche College Redhawks at Alumni Stadium.
After falling behind 2-0 early in the game, the Tomcats scored a pair goals to force a 2-2 tie.
Katelyn Labos (Carnegie, Pa./Chartiers Valley) scored Thiel's first goal on a cross pass from
Joelle Reitz (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) in the box in the 21
st minute.
Kaytee Candela (Ashtabula, Ohio/Lakeside) went on to tie the game on another shot from inside the box near the 30-minute mark. Reitz and
Emma Polinski (Brunswick, Ohio/Trinity) both picked up assists on Candela's game-tying goal.
Unfortunately for the Tomcats, Redhawk Vanessa Ceravolo broke the tie late in the first half on a pass from Allesandra Perri. Ceravolo scored three goals on the day, including the only goal in the second half, which closed out scoring.
Labos and Candela each scored a goal for the Tomcats while Reitz picked up a pair of assists.
Kim Gentry (Madison, Ohio/Madison) made nine saves for the Tomcats. Jessica Welka and Hanna Csoman combined to make three saves for the Redhawks.
The Tomcats will travel to Hamburg, N.Y., Tuesday to face the Hilbert College Hawks in another non-conference game. The contest is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
