Gates, Wilkinson pace Tomcats against Bison

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Brooke Gates (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) and Elizabeth Wilkinson (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) each scored a goal, but it wasn't enough for the Thiel Tomcats in a 3-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss Friday night to the Bethany Bison at Alumni Stadium.
 
Lindsey Cornish opened scoring for the Bison 27:55 into the contest when she put back a rebound. Gates evened the score for the Tomcats roughly seven minutes later when she also scored on a rebound.
 
Bethany managed to take a 2-1 lead three minutes before halftime when Kadin Gould scored on a shot from roughly 25 yards out that hit the cross bar before finding the back of the net.
 
Wilkinson forced the second tie 4:25 into the second half when she scored from 15 yards out on a free kick. However, Julie Slezak scored the game-winner for the Bison in the 70th minute on a pass from Sarah London.
 
Kim Gentry (Madison, Ohio/Madison) made two saves in 90 minutes of work for the Tomcats. Anna Riddle denied seven shots to earn the win for the Bison.
