GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team earned a 9-0 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win Thursday over the Bethany Bison during senior day.
The Tomcats swept all three doubles matches Thursday.
Sara Matczak (Erie, Pa./Fairview) and
Lauren Wolfe (Anita, Pa./Punxsutawney) defeated Alyssa Smydo and Gabrielle Berrios 8-2 in the No. 1 slot while
Shyann Foreman (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) and
Angela Campbell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) teamed up for an 8-1 win over Angela Counselman and Emily Folk at No. 2 doubles.
Mercedez Quarles (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Science and Medicine) and
Kaela Reinhart (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) picked up a hard-fought 8-6 win over Francesca Capaldi and Loenora Wetstein at No. 3 doubles.
Matczak defeated Smydo 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Wolfe downed Berrios 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Foreman was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Counselman at No. 3 singles while Campbell earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Folk at No. 4 singles. Quarles and
Marquett Samuels (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) also earned victories for the Tomcats at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively.
The Tomcats will close out PAC play Saturday at Grove City, Pa., when they take on the Thomas More Saints at 1 p.m.
