Tomcats run away from Golden Tornadoes

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Thiel College men's basketball team went into the Metheny Fieldhouse Saturday night and took a 77-63 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory from the Geneva Golden Tornadoes.

After Geneva tied the game in the second half at 42 with 12:10 remaining, the Tomcats went on a 9-0 run to take the lead and never looked back.

Sophomore forward Avril Campbell (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) recorded his second double-double of the season in the win. Campbell scored a career-high 20 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field and also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Khari Bess (Waldorf, Md./Maurice J. McDonough) also recorded a double-double for the Tomcats, scoring 12 points and dishing out 10 assists.

Clandell Cetoute (Wellington, Fla./Wellington) and Luke Kochka (Monroeville, Pa. /Gateway) also scored in the double figures for the Tomcats. Cetoute notched 16 points, six rebounds and two blocks while Kochka scored 12 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Leandra Jackson (Boardman, Ohio) scored six points, corralled eight rebounds and stole the ball twice.

Chaese Vaudrin had 25 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Tornadoes.

The Tomcats will wrap up their road trip in Washington, Pa. on Wednesday when they take on the Washington and Jefferson Presidents in a conference showdown. Tip will follow the women's game at 8 p.m.
