Watkins leads Tomcats with double-double

Passes Aits on career points list

LATROBE, Pa. – Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) recorded a double-double for the Thiel College women's basketball team Wednesday in a 69-57 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) loss to the Saint Vincent Bearcats.

Watkins tallied game-highs with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She connected on 8-of-14 shots from the floor while sinking four shots from the charity stripe. Watkins moved into eighth place on Thiel's career points list Wednesday, surpassing Penny Aits, a Thiel College Athletic Hall of Famer, who tallied 1,107 points in the 1980s. To date, Watkins has scored 1,122 points.

Hannah Stoneman (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Hiland) also scored 10 points for the Tomcats.

Jasmine Weems led the Bearcats with 14 points while Susie Ellis and Maria Morgan each scored 10 points. Ellis also led the Bearcats with eight rebounds.

The Tomcats will take on the Geneva Golden Tornadoes on the road Saturday. The PAC contest is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
