HERMITAGE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team lost its season opener Friday 5-4 to the visiting Mount Aloysius Mounties at Buhl Park in Hermitage, Pa.
Lauren Mittner (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton),
Janthel Davis (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) and
Kaela Reinhart (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) all won singles matches for the Tomcats. Mittner won at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-0 over Emily Goldyn while Davis won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5 singles over Felicia Phillips. Reinhart earned a win by forfeit at No. 6 singles.
Davis and
Mercedez Quarles (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Science and Medicine) also earned a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles.
The Tomcats (0-1) will return to action Monday when they travel to Fredonia, N.Y., to take on the Fredonia Blue Devils at the Steele Hall Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
