BETHANY, W.Va. – Mercedez Quarles (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Science and Medicine) and Janthel Davis (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) each earned a pair of wins Tuesday to lead the Thiel College women's tennis team to a 5-4 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over the Bethany Bison.
 
Quarles defeated Antoinette Fuller 8-7, 7-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles while Davis downed Haleigh Brooks 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Quarles and Davis also defeated Fuller and Brooks at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
 
Also for the Tomcats, Lauren Wolfe (Anita, Pa./Punxsutawney) defeated Sarah Thrall 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Wolfe also paired with Lauren Mittner (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) to defeat Pia Hager and Anna Heizler at No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
 
The Tomcats will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 22 when they travel to Meadville, Pa., to take on the Allegheny Gators at 5 p.m.
