PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Thiel College women's basketball team used a strong second half effort from the starters to pull a 55-53 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over the Chatham University Cougars Wednesday night.
Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to earn her eighth double-double of the season. Watkins also knocked down two crucial free-throws with 15 seconds left in the game to give the Tomcats the win.
Taylor Ketler (Dalton, Ohio/Dalton) and
Erin DiFalco (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) each recorded seven rebounds while Ketler scored 11 points and DiFalco scored nine.
Kayla Welty (Portville, N.Y./Portville ) scored six points with five assists.
Emily Schmidt also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Chatham.
The Tomcats held the advantage in field-goal percentage (43.2-33.3) and free-throw percentage (71.4-50).
The Tomcats will be back in action on Saturday, February 7 at 1 p.m. to take on the No.2 ranked Thomas More Saints inside the Beeghly Gymnasium.
