GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat to the La Roche Redhawks in a non-conference match Thursday afternoon.
 
Lauren Mittner (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) picked up the lone Tomcat victory on the day with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in No. 1 singles over Sarah Brunner. Mittner and Mercedez Quarles (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland School of Science and Medicine) had a tough loss in No. 1 doubles 9-8 against Brunner and Emily Huwe.
 
The Tomcats resume their conference schedule on Monday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. at Hermitage's Buhl Park against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets.
