GREENVILLE, Pa. –
Taylor Duchon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) drained four three-pointers and
Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) tallied her fifth double-double of the season Wednesday to lead the Thiel College women's basketball team to an 80-74 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over the visiting Chatham Cougars.
Trailing 40-39 at halftime, the Tomcats opened the second half on a 14-2 run to hold a 53-42 lead with 16:15 remaining in regulation. Duchon hit two of her four three-pointers in the game over the stretch.
The Tomcats never gave up the lead the rest of the way, though the Cougars did come within one point on three occasions down the stretch.
Watkins scored a season-best 27 points in the win to go along with 14 rebounds. Duchon finished with 16 points while
Erin DiFalco (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) made a trio of threes to finish with nine points.
Rachel McClain paced the Cougars with 16 points while Becky Rowe scored 14 points.
The Tomcats will return to action Saturday when they host the Westminster Titans at 1 p.m.
