WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Thiel College wrestling team defeated the Washington & Jefferson Presidents 16-15 via criteria tiebreaker in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Wednesday.
W&J won four of the first five matches to open up a 12-3 lead. Junior 141-pounder Nick Sutton (Butler, Pa./Butler) picked up Thiel's first win of the match, earning an 8-2 decision over Daniel Pommerer.
After a close loss at 157 pounds the Tomcats rifled off wins in four of the final five matches. Brandon Collins (Hadley, Pa./Commodore Perry) (165), Marco Crivelli (Clinton, Pa./Hopewell) (184), Jerrold Roosa (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) (197) and Blake Heim (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds) (285) all won by decision.
With the final score being tied (15-15), the Tomcats won the match by bonus points (combined total points scored from decisions).

The Tomcats (11-6, 1-0 PAC) will take on the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets in a PAC match on Friday. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
