GREENVILLE, Pa. –
Jaclyn Watkins (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) scored 27 points and pulled down 12 rebounds Monday, but it wasn't enough for the Thiel College women's basketball team in a 78-64 loss to the Penn State Altoona Lions at Beeghly Gymnasium.
Watkins tallied her seventh double-double of the season, helping the Tomcats to a 35-23 halftime lead. However, the Lions shot 69.2 percent (18-of-26) from the floor and 82.4 percent (14-of-17) from the foul line in the second half to earn a 78-64 come-from-behind victory over the Tomcats.
Nicole Gripp led the Lions with 22 points while Moira Corrigan scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Madison Mossellem also scored 14 points.
The Tomcats (3-12, 2-6 PAC) will return to action Wednesday when they host the Saint Vincent Bearcats at 5:30 p.m.
