Berg’s goal not enough for Tomcats

Thiel falls to Hiram, 3-1

Box Score GREENVILLE, Pa. – Morgan Berg (Cleveland, Ohio/Rocky River) netted her first goal of the 2014 season Wednesday, but it wasn't enough for the Thiel Tomcats, who suffered a 3-1 loss to the Hiram Terriers at Alumni Stadium.

Berg scored from roughly 25 yards out from the far side of the field, picking the far side of cage less than 11 minutes into regulation.

Mary Oakey (Baltimore, Md. /Mercy ) made four saves in the first 45 minutes of play, and the Tomcats maintained their 1-0 lead at halftime.

Unfortunately for the Tomcats, the Terriers scored three unanswered goals in the second half to earn the victory, 3-1.

Kelsey Martin tied up the score at the 58:26 mark. The Terriers took the lead roughly 15 minutes later on Allie Glatt's goal. Abbey Rowe tacked on an insurance goal for the Terries with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation.

Kailie Reed made five saves for the Terries, two of which were on Berg. Freshman Kim Gentry (Madison, Ohio/Madison) made seven saves for the Tomcats in the second half.

The Tomcats will be back in action Friday when they host the Mount Aloysius Mounties at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
