No. 14 Tomcats finish 2-2 at Mount Union Duals

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The No. 14-ranked Thiel College wrestling team finished 2-2 at the 2014 Mount Union Duals Saturday.
 
The Tomcats opened the dual tournament against the No.18 York Spartans, but fell 26-12. Jason Miller (Clarksville, Pa./Jefferson Morgan) earned six points for Thiel by pinning Tom Moss of York in 47 seconds. Sean Byham (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) and Brandon Collins (Hadley, Pa./Commodore Perry) each received decisions over their York opponents at 157 and 165 pounds, respectively
 
Thiel defeated John Carroll 22-16 to earn their first win at the duals. The Tomcats were paced by a pin at heavyweight by Blake Heim (Greenville, Pa./Reynolds), who defeated Mike Andelbradt in 3:15, and a major decision by Jerrold Roosa (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) at 184 over Stephen Schmitz (13-3). Guiliano Graziosi opened the dual with a forfeit win at 125. Nick Sutton (Butler, Pa./Butler) and Christopher Nuss each earned decisions at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively.
 
Thiel dropped a 42-3 decision to the No. 2-ranked Messiah College Falcons. Chris Nuss (West Homestead, Pa/Central Catholic) recorded the lone Tomcat win at 157 pounds with a decision over Greg Kabakjan (9-4).
 
The Tomcats then rallied and earned a 20-13 win over Lycoming. Lance Waters (Abingdon, Md./John Carroll) got the first win of the dual at 133 pounds with a 5-3 decision over Cody Barbiche. After dropping the match at 149 pounds, the Tomcats rifled off four straight match wins and wins in five of the last six matches to seal the victory. Jerrold Roosa (Randolph, N.Y./Randolph Central) recorded a technical fall over Nikolas Christine of Lycoming 17-0 at 184. Byham , Collins, Tyler Wilkes (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) (174) and Heim (285) each had decisions over their Lycoming opponents.
 
The Tomcats will return to action after Thanksgiving when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday, Dec. 6 to participate in the R.I.T. Invitational.
